This is James
He was told he couldn’t, wouldn’t, shouldn’t.
But James discovered his strengths, creativity, compassion, and the gift of helping others.
Believing in himself, he became a mentor and lifted those around him.
Now he inspires, teaches, and supports others, showing that being seen and valued can change everything.
James’ Social Signature lives on.
James received a late diagnosis of ADHD and Dyslexia and struggled with his education, being led to believe he was an academic failure.
He came alive when he volunteered at a local special needs school, where he realised he had strengths in creativity, caring and communication by helping people less fortunate than him. James began to recognise that what others had said about him wasn’t true at all.
He was not a failure, but rather he was good at things that others had not seen. He took his new belief in himself back into his school, where he became a mentor and advocate for younger pupils. James’ newfound confidence and courage enabled him to challenge the system he had experienced and be a new voice for children with more complex needs, who, like him, had not been listened to or heard.
Despite others’ views of his capabilities, James exceeded his academic expectations and now combines volunteering at a social club for adults with neurodiverse needs and studying for a degree to become a special needs teacher.
